In a nutshell
/A lifetime food experience /
By the river Danube lies a cosy apartment, giving home to our dinner parties. Here, you will taste an authentic and home-cooked Hungarian meal, discover our culture and traditions, learn about our history; and most importantly, you will spend an unforgettable and heart-warming evening.
Our place is a sanctuary reserved only for those in the know. And this hidden secret will change the way you think and feel about dining and socialising – whether it’s with the ones you love or with new, lovely, like-minded people.
Closed for holidays 21 August - 3 September
If you visit Budapest this period, we're sorry for not meeting you; however, if you come at a later time, feel free to get in touch, we handle emails and will get back to you as soon as we can.
So how does it work?
Our dinner is both a gastronomic and a social experience;
it is as much about meeting people as it is about the food. You meet people from all over the world,
you sit around the same table and chat over a well cooked Hungarian meal paired with great local wines.
There’s a set price and a set menu, but we can cater for any dietary request (vegetarian, gluten/lactose-free etc.)
if enough notice is given.
It’s basically a dinner party with strangers,
but it’s not that weird as it sounds – it’s a lot of fun, I promise.
Important: We’re not open every day and spots sell out quickly, so get in touch in advance 🙂
A modern yet cosy apartment situated in one of Budapest’s residential neighbourhoods, just by the Danube river. Given the location, you can enjoy a breath-taking view on the river with sunset lights. Our place is easily reachable via public transport, by taxi or even by boat; once your booking is confirmed, detailed instructions are provided about the dinner’s top-secret time and place. And, after dinner, should you wish to take a cab, we can of course help you with that too.
The menu is carefully curated, blending together local ingredients with our family heritage. We believe that genius lies in simplicity so we won’t offer unnecessarily complex dishes aimed only at aesthetic results. We also believe in and respect locality and seasonality, so we source all our ingredients from high-quality Hungarian suppliers, and we partner with excellent family-run wineries throughout the country. From spring till autumn, we often use produce from our own garden.
We’re the Goldbach family, each of us with quite different skills – and weaknesses, of course. Zsuzsa, the tax-advisor mom; Feri, the graphic designer dad; and Zsuzska, the gastronome daughter. What brings us together? The love of good, fair and honest food and wine. Because, secretly, don’t tell it to anybody tho, mom has an innate talent for cooking, dad is a true wine enthusiast and myself, Zsuzska, I am a real pro in talking about gastronomy and entertaining.
Szia! I’m Suzie/Zsuzska
In my bravest dreams there exists a Ministry of Gastronomy and I’m the one in charge of it. In my opinion one of the best ways to discover a country is through its food. Because food is not only about eating; it is about discovering culture, about finding the answers to Your ’why’ questions, about emerging in history, about understanding local people. Food is about falling in Love.

Our Guests say
„We started our Eastern European river cruise in Budapest and came upon Suzie’s Eat&Meet experience. Very frankly, the reviews sounded too good to be true but we decided to try it. From the moment we arrived we felt like we were in a friend’s home. The multi-course dinner provided us with one of the best meals on our 3 week vacation. Don’t hesitate to try this unique opportunity, you’ll love it.”

„Great food, excellent wine and interesting conversation – a winning combination anywhere. Suzie is a great communicator and makes an excellent ambassador for the beautiful city of Budapest. If you visit Budapest, we’d highly recommend that you spend an evening with Suzie and her parents. Thank you.”

„Throughout the evening, Suzie told us stories about Hungarian culture and food. The first course was a wonderful, creamy soup made from a local root vegetable. She also busted the myth that Hungarian food is heavy.
The best part of the evening was the lively conversation with visitors who quickly became new friends. Suzie encouraged us to mix in throughout the table and it was really fun to learn about Hungarian culture through Suzie and other cultures through the other guests. Such a different experience than anything I’ve done before and super fun and great food and wine!”
